Raw Bistro Pet Fare of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, has issued a voluntary recall of select lots of its Grass-Fed Beef Entrée frozen dog food after testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detected potential Salmonella contamination.
The recall was initiated after an FDA sample tested positive for the bacteria. No illnesses in pets or humans have been reported at this time.
Recalled Products
The recall is limited to the following products from lot code 239 with a Best By date of August 27, 2026:
• Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée — 3 lb bag — UPC 858833002247
• Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée — 18 lb bulk case — UPC 858833002629
The lot code and Best By date are printed on the back of the package.
Why the Recall Was Issued
Routine FDA sampling detected Salmonella in the affected products. As a precaution, Raw Bistro initiated a voluntary recall to protect pets and consumers.
Although no illnesses have been reported, Salmonella can affect both animals that eat contaminated food and people who handle it or contaminated surfaces.
Health Risks
Salmonella exposure can cause illness in pets and humans.
Possible symptoms in humans:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal cramps, and fever. In rare cases, infection may lead to more serious complications such as arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, or urinary symptoms.
Possible symptoms in pets:
Diarrhea (sometimes bloody), vomiting, fever, lethargy, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite. Some pets may show no symptoms but can still shed bacteria and spread infection.
Contact a healthcare provider or veterinarian if symptoms appear after exposure.
