Foodynamics has issued a voluntary recall of select freeze-dried pet treats sold under the Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, and Kanu Pets brands after U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) testing detected potential Salmonella contamination.
The company has paused production and distribution of the affected items while working with regulators to determine the source of contamination. No illnesses have been reported in pets or humans.
Recalled Products
The recall includes specific freeze-dried treats in the following varieties and lot numbers:
• Raw Dog Barkery — Whole Chicken Hearts (3 oz, 16 oz) — Lot 030527, 040217
• Raw Dog Barkery — Sliced Chicken Heart (3 oz) — Lot 031627
• BellePepper Cats — Freeze-Dried Chicken Heart Slices (3 oz) — Lot 031627
• BellePepper Cats — Freeze-Dried Sample Treats (unpackaged/unlabeled) — Lot 121426, 011526
• Kanu Pets — Freeze-Dried Chicken Heart Raw Treats (3 oz) — Lot 031627
The products were shipped from Wisconsin to retailers in Wisconsin, New York, and Florida. Only seven consumer packages were distributed directly to buyers.
Foodynamics reports it traced 100% of distribution and contacted all direct customers shortly after announcing the recall.
Why the Recall Was Issued
The recall was triggered after FDA sampling detected Salmonella in certain lots of the freeze-dried treats.
As a precaution, Foodynamics has:
• Suspended production and distribution
• Begun an investigation into contamination sources
• Instructed retailers to quarantine affected inventory

If you have any recalled products:
• Stop feeding them immediately
• Do not sell, donate, or share them
